Mid-week pacing check: uneven sentence length and rhythm can make even strong content feel monotonous or breathless.
Copyediting varies sentence structure—mixing short punchy lines with longer, flowing ones—for natural rhythm. Proofreading ensures punctuation supports that rhythm (commas for pauses, dashes for emphasis).
Wednesday exercise: Read a few paragraphs aloud. If it feels rushed or draggy, flag it. Add variety: follow a long sentence with a short one, or break up blocks of similar length.
My book includes pacing exercises and examples—great for self-edits.
If pacing feels off, I can help smooth it. Contact me at inkheartediting.com/contact.
